Spontaneous abortion - Nursing Lecture
Early pregnancy loss is non-induced embryonic or fetal death or passage of products of conception before 20 weeks gestation. Early pregnancy loss is also termed as spontaneous abortion or miscarriage. The World Health Organization (WHO) defines it as expulsion or extraction of an embryo or fetus weighing 500 g or less.
Spontaneous abortion in the first trimester is common, affecting at least 15–20% of the clinically recognized pregnancies. Approximately 80% of all cases of pregnancy loss occur within the first three months of pregnancy (first trimester).

To strengthen your PELVIC FLOOR MUSCLES

The pelvic floor muscles support the bladder, uterus, and bowel. They prevent incontinence of bladder and bowel, prolapse and are also important in sexual function. It also houses nerves and muscles that are important to a range of body functions.
During childbirth, this area needs to stretch to allow the baby to pass through the birth canal. The pelvic floor can be significantly impacted by birth,so much so that pelvic floor dysfunction after childbirth has been identified as a major public health issue. However, it is important to remember that the pelvic floor plays a key role in childbirth.
